MM-logo-new-webFRIDAY, DEC. 2, 5:30 TO 12 MIDNIGHT: Join us downtown to kick off Concord's holiday shopping season at Intown Concord's 24th Annual Midnight Merriment, presented by NH Federal Credit Union. Midnight Merriment is a Concord tradition hosted by Intown Concord. This festive and family oriented event kicks off the holiday season and offers a variety of holiday fun and activities. More than 2,000 people visit downtown to shop, socialize, dine, and have fun. As a free, family and community driven event, Midnight Merriment helps to build and maintain the community well-being that is vital to a healthy downtown.

Midnight Merriment is also an important economic driver for downtown Concord's small and independent business owners, who work passionately to provide a fun and personal customer-focused shopping experience. This event is a cornerstone of the Intown Concord mission of promoting and enhancing the business environment, cultural activities, housing, and appearance of historic downtown Concord. What will you find at Midnight Merriment?

  • SHOP DIFFERENT! Enjoy festive holiday decorations, special promotions, and refreshments at your favorite shops throughout Concord's downtown; bring your wallet and support our local economy!
  • Revel in the stunning new streetscape on North and South Main Street – featuring sparkling new wreaths for a magical holiday environment
  • Dine with friends and family at a variety of tasty downtown restaurants
  • Listen for the many strolling caroling groups throughout the night
  • Shop Winter Giftopolis with Concord Arts Market on two levels in Eagle Square Atrium – more than 20 fine art and craft vendors, one night only (6:30 to 11:00pm)
  • S'mores Station – Warm up and enjoy some yummy treats on City Plaza with 2 "BumDrums" fire pits and S'mores kits courtesy of NH Federal Credit Union and Granite State Candy Shoppe (6:00 to 9:00pm, while supplies last)
  • Bring your camera and your wish list for a visit with Santa in Eagle Square Atrium (6:30 to 8:00)
  • Enjoy the Christmas tree, Nativity scene, and Menorah on City Plaza & State House Plaza
  • Pop-up entertainment, Elfie-selfie stations and instant raffles to win Downtown Dollars
  • Participate or just come and watch the Midnight Merriment Beard Contest at City Plaza (6:30pm) – A display of festive facial foliage to rival Santa's! (DETAILS BELOW)
  • Midnight Merriment is sponsored by NH Federal Credit Union (47 N. Main) – Stop by their office to visit with Santa and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate

Free and convenient parking is available after 5:00 pm on North and South Main streets, side streets and the School St., Storrs St., and State St. garages.

Please note that downtown streets will remain open to vehicle traffic during Midnight Merriment.

Beard Contest: It’s No Shave November!!

mm-beard-winnerDo you have what it takes to compete in the 2016 Midnight Merriment Beard Contest?  This will take place on Friday, Dec. 2, during the 24th Annual Midnight Merriment. The chin-strap, the Van Dyke, the goatee, the Donegal, the soul patch, the full and furry….Your festive follicles could put Santa to shame! Register at Granite State Candy Shoppe - 13 Warren St. Concord - NOW through Friday Dec. 2. No Cost to Register. Judging will take place in front of the State House by the Christmas tree at 6:30, be ready to strut your stuff! (Inclement weather location: Basement Lounge of the Barley House)

Your festive follicles will be judged based on length, fullness, style & creativity, and General Manliness. GRAND PRIZE: Title of “CHAMPION of the 2016 Midnight Merriment Beard Contest” along with a few treats and all the rights and privileges that go with that title. Winners will also be announced for best in show, holiday spirit, and judge’s choice. (That's last year's grand champion Ryan Smith shown above!) All results are final. No purchase necessary.
